Winner Announcement of the AO Spine ESA Grant Award and the 10th ESA Young Researcher Award

AO Spine ESA Grant Award

It is with a great pleasure and pride we would like to announce that Maria Ines Almeida, Herlander Marques, Susana Santos and Mario Barbosa from Portugal with their research project proposal: "MicroRNA molecular signatures for multiple myeloma bone disease in the spine" have won the AO Spine ESA Grant Award. Please join us in congratulating the winners, as well as all other participants, who submitted very high quality project applications. 


10th Young Researcher Award

First place: Isma Liza Mohd Isa for her paper "Implantation of hyaluronic acid hydrogel prevents the pain phenotype in a rat model of intervertebral disc injury"

Second place: Stefania Elena Navone for "Mechanical loading of intervertebral disc modulates microglia proliferation, activation and chemotaxis"

Third Place: Giorgio Lofrese for “Type II odontoid fracture in elderly patients treated conservatively: is fracture healing the goal?”

Fourth Place: Olga Pavlova for "Anomaly-related pathological atlantoaxial displacement in pediatric patients"

The winners are awarded as follows:

First place:

  • Research Grant of 5'000.- Swiss Francs

  • Invitation to participate at an AO Spine event in Europe

  • Public announcement of the award

  • AO Spine membership for one year

Second, third and fourth place:

  • AO Spine membership for one year
