AO Spine Upper Cervical Classification

As part of our continuing commitment to the development of clinically relevant fracture classification systems, the AO Spine Knowledge Forum Trauma seeks the input of spine surgeons to establish the clinical utility of the new AO Spine Upper Cervical Injury Classification System.
Our goal is to assess its reliability and accuracy on an international scale with approximately 100 spine and trauma surgeons.

The validation study will include three phases:

1st assessment – Saturday, October 16, 2021: We will hold a webinar where 25 cases will be presented, and you will be asked to rate them based on the new AO Spine Upper Cervical Injury Classification System. A short training to familiarize yourself with the validation process and the classification system will be provided before we start with the 1st assessment.

2nd assessment – Saturday, November 13, 2021: Four weeks after the 1st assessment, we will hold a second webinar where you will be asked to rate the same cases again.

All raters who complete both assessments will be acknowledged as collaborators and cited under the group name "AO Spine Upper Cervical Injury Classification Validation Members".

To register your participation, please follow this link. The registration deadline is Friday, October 1, 2021.

We are very excited to start this validation study with you and appreciate your participation. Many thanks in advance for your contribution and effort!

Sincerely,
Alexander R. Vaccaro, Cumhur Öner, and Gregory Schroeder
