AO Spine Latin America webinars—what's new in 2021

28 January 2021

AOSLA webinars

AO Spine Latin America recently structured their educational framework for web-based events, introducing levels and several new formats. As always, all AO Spine educational events are linked to the AO Spine curriculum. Here, you will get to know the new structure and the main changes.

First and foremost, AO Spine event planning considers the learners' needs for a particular topic and the curricular competencies to be covered. In 2021, to develop the lifelong learning education model further, the AO Spine Latin American webinars framework will be reorganized by pathology and by level of complexity. The aim is to provide participants with a clear and structured understanding of the learning offerings.

L Gustavo
“To strengthen and to innovate our online event offers with topmost educational consistency and structure, we developed a wide variety of principles, advanced, and masters levels options. This allows our members to stay up to date and to keep learning in the most convenient way: virtually.”

Luiz Gustavo Dal Oglio da Rocha, AO Spine Latin America Education Officer

One-hour-webinars

In these single-themed webinars, speakers and participants can interact throughout the event via chat. In 2021, we will offer three principles level 1h-webinars with lectures covering topics around trauma, degenerative, and oncology. Three advanced level 1h-webinars will include a presentation of a clinical case followed by a lecture covering topics around trauma, deformity, and infection.

  • Principles level webinars will take place on Fridays at 11:30 AM (GMT-3)
  • Advanced level webinars will take place on Tuesdays at 11:30 AM (GMT-3)
  • These webinars are FREE for AO Spine members and USD 30 for nonmembers.

Spine Centers Club

This new monthly gathering will be an opportunity for our Spine Centers and their fellows to share knowledge and to network with peers around the region. During the 1.5h-webinars they can present their services and bring cases for discussion. Participants can interact with speakers continuously via chat. In 2021, we will organize 9 principles level Spine Centers club webinars hosted by our Spine Centers.

Case-based webinars

These 2h-webinars will bring together three renowned speakers from different countries of the region to discuss three different clinical cases. From 2021 on, these online events will feature a single-themed lecture with cases. They will cover topics around trauma, degenerative, and oncology; deformity; and infection/inflammatory spondyloarthropathy. Participants can interact with speakers via chat. We will offer six advanced level case-based webinars during the year, taking place on Saturdays at 10:00 AM (GMT-3).

  • These webinars are FREE for AO Spine members and USD 30 for nonmembers.

Meet the Expert

These members-only 2h-webinars provide a live and highly interactive learning opportunity created specifically for surgeons at a master's level of experience. Throughout the event, speakers and participants are encouraged to keep their webcams and microphones on to allow sharing of experiences, presenting contrasting opinions, and getting instant feedback. In 2021, we will offer four masters level Meet the expert webinars on deformity, MISS, cervical spine, and oncology.

  • For AO Spine members only, USD 50.
