Reach new heights
Applications open for the AO Spine Global Diploma Training Program
07 December 2020
A surgeon's initial training is the first step into a professional life and a career accompanied by lifelong learning. As young surgeons put their skills to work in orthopedic, neuro, or trauma surgery, they continue to build their knowledge, enhance their expertise, and to develop leadership and other skills required for a successful career in the demanding field of spine care.
On this foundation, AO Spine proudly introduces the new AO Spine Global Diploma Training Program—the first globally developed, systematic training program for spine specialists, designed by world-renowned surgeons.
In this inaugural phase launched on November 17, 2020, the call for applications is open for surgeons from the Indian subcontinent. More countries and regions will follow in 2021 and thereafter.
Creating a worldwide standard
The AO Spine Global Diploma Training Program can have a positive impact on a surgeon's career by being recognized as a spine surgeon worldwide. The training program is flexible, allowing you to learn at your own pace, with a weekly time investment of approximately 3–5 hours.
"This is the first global program developed for international spine care needs, creating a worldwide standard," Training Program Director Bryan Ashman says. "Surgeons can benefit from the experience and support of global leaders in spine surgery during the learning pathway."
By the end of the two semesters (approx. after 21 months), young surgeons will have gained a thorough grounding in all aspects of specialist spine care; not just practical knowledge, but also the broader skill set that surgeons require.
