AO Spine Asia Pacific launches a new online surgical case discussions

20 September 2020

Online learning

In response to the overwhelmingly positive response to the "Hangout of the Week" webinar series earlier this year, AO Spine Indian Subcontinent Council (AO SIN) is launching a new series of interactive webinars starting in September 2020. The AO Spine Surgical Video Discussion series consists of six webinars, which will run every two weeks.

The discussion sessions will provide a unique opportunity to learn interactively about various surgical cases, in discussion with the faculty.

Each webinar will focus on two topics within a pathology. There is no lecture, but faculty will initiate discussion with surgical videos, going thorough cases step by step. Discussion is encouraged among speakers and participants for a best learning outcome, but you may also join just to listen and watch—whatever suits your own learning style best.

Hangout with AO Spine

The intensive interactive webinar campaign called the "Hangout of the Week", which was organized by AO SIN earlier this year, drew more than 1'800 attendees over a three-month period.

Initially two one-hour webinar sessions were planned, but due to popular demand, a total or 26 hangout webinars were organized. AO SIN faculty presented on various topics at different experience levels in six pathologies. The "Hangout of the Week" was first designed for AO SIN members only, but in response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback it was quickly extended to members in other Asia Pacific countries and to other AO Spine regions.

Participants were encouraged to engage in the discussion with the speakers, which proved to be an important learning opportunity, especially in the absence of face-to-face events. The new Surgical Video Discussion series continues to fill this need and provides a setting to hang out with your peers.
