The GSC continues to position itself as an event of the highest international relevance for the spine surgeon community. For four days, participants were able to enjoy a packed, outstanding scientific program showcasing the very latest research, innovative techniques, and cutting-edge technologies in spine surgery. The event included Pre-Courses, AOSpine and Guest Society Symposia, members only and paper sessions. Pre-reviewed abstracts were presented orally or as E-posters.

"The quality of the sessions at the Global Spine Congress in Milan was very high, and demonstrates the excellent scientific value of the event as such, as well as of AOSpine as an organization", remarked Claudio Lamartina, GSC Regional Chairperson.

The GSC scientific program was supported by ten guest societies: the North American Spine Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Cervical Spine Research Society, Scoliosis Research Society, EUROSPINE, The European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, Deutsche Wirbelsäulengesellschaft, Société Francaise de Chirurgie Rachidienne, Society of Lateral Access Surgery, Societa Italiana di Chirurgia Vertebrale—Gruppo Italiano Scoliosi.

The GSC was supported by 38 sponsoring companies. For the very first time in GSC history, two industry sponsored cadaver lab operations were staged simultaneously, and transmitted via video to a lecture room. During the moderated live operations, each leading surgeon discussed and explained the specific details behind their innovative procedures.

GSC Chair Jeff Wang commented, "the GSC is unique in its format for sharing knowledge between spine surgeons from all around the world, and in developing new approaches to the treatment of spinal disorders. We are delighted about the success of the GSC, and believe that it not only offers the participants a highly innovative scientific program, but also excellent networking opportunities with key opinion leaders from all over the world. We will continue to work on providing the participants with latest scientific content and revolutionary sessions at the GSC, and are already very much looking forward to welcoming the global spine community to the GSC 2018 in Singapore".

The GSC 2018 will take place in Singapore from May 2-5, 2018. Abstracts can be submitted from June 1 to September 15, 2017.
