Center description:

Spinal Pathology Unit of the Hospital San Martín de La Plata, Argentina recognized by the Society of Spine Pathology, operates within the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology and referral center in spinal cord trauma. The General Hospital Acute Inter-zonal "General San Martin" is a university hospital referral center nationally and neighboring countries, has offices of Chair of the majority of medical specialties and virtually all medical and medical Estate. The Orthopedics and Trauma is one of the more experience in the country.
Spinal Pathology Unit performs: diagnostic and therapeutic practices in pathology traumatic, degenerative, deformity, tumor, get residency rotations in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery, has a Post Basic Training in Adult Spine Pathology recognized by the Faculty of Science Medical La Plata, works in its orbit the Multidisciplinary Team for the Care of Patients with spinal cord injury.

Objectives

As responsible for the Spine Pathology Unit of the San Martin Hospital of La Plata, Argentina, I want once again to thank you for honoring us Ruth the recognition of our center as AOSpine Reference Center. This will allow us to offer to all AO members wanting to come over the greatest amount of information and number of practices and in this we’ll be working together with the Spine Department of the La Plata Italian Hospital.

Methodology

Weekly sessions:

Trainees will perform different activities in accordance with the duration of their training. Trainings of less than one week duration will be exempt of the following plan.

Activities are divided into:

1- Room:
a. Together with the Service of Orthopedics and Traumatology,
Monday 8AM to 6.30PM.

b. Private Practice in the Unit (patients hospitalized in other services of the hospital – not Orthopedics -);
Mondays 8.30 to 9AM.

2- Ateneo Pre-surgical: together with the Service of Orthopedics and Traumatology.
Mondays10 to 12AM.

3- Practice in diagnostic and therapeutic interventionism:
Tuesdays 7.30 to 8.30AM.

4- Care in Outpatient Clinics,
Tuesdays 8 to 10AM and Thursdays 8.30 to 11AM.

5- Ateneo Bibliography:
Tuesdays 10 to 10.20AM.

6- Ateneo pre-surgical (private at the unit) and consultation with other services:
Tuesdays 10.20 to 11.30AM.

7- Theory studies:
Tuesdays 11.30 to 12.30AM.

8- Programmed surgical activity:
Thursdays 7.30AM to 4PM. The closing time will depend on the kind of surgical activity to perform.

9- Ateneo Post-Surgical:
Fridays 8 to 8.30AM.

10- Ateneo Inter-disciplinary in spine marrow:
Fridays 11 to 12AM.

11- Urgency surgical and medical activities:
in accordance with needs.

Timetable

Full-time regime Monday to Friday 7.30 AM to 12 PM.  On Thursday from 7.30 AM to 4 PM.
